“THE VISUAL AUDIO CLUB: YOUTH IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCE THROUGH THE LENS OF HIP-HOP”
National boundaries, language differences, and cultural distinctions can post barriers to understanding. In the 21st Century, the forms of Hip-Hop have surpassed these limitations and allowed young people worldwide to express their lives in a common form.
KGNU Community Radio partnered with the Denver Public Library and Youth on Recordto present the workshop “The Visual Audio Club: Youth Immigrant Experience Through the Lens of Hip-Hop” on Sat 10/17/15 at the Byers Branch of the DPL.
This workshop explored the Immigrant Experience through a video mixtape of global Hip-Hop, with music and poetry by four international student artists from Youth on Record. This was a free, family friendly event, intended to encourage dialogue.
