Q: What did you want to be when you grew up?
A: When I was younger, I wanted to be a ballerina. That didn’t happen. I also wanted to be a dermatologist because I had really bad eczema when I was a child and a young teenager—horrible eczema. I wanted to be able to help other young people with eczema.
Q: Who is your favorite artist of all time?
A: My favorite artist of all time is Lenny Kravitz. He could fart, and I would be like “he’s amazing.” He’s numero uno in my book. I love Lenny Kravitz and I love Prince, no one can really top them. No one’s touched my soul like Lenny has, I love him.
Q: What’s your go-to brunch order?
A: There’s this really good Senegalese chicken and waffle dish at Le French that I love. Also, smoked salmon eggs benedict. Those are my two favorite dishes, and I make a great smoked salmon eggs benedict—I’m a very good cook.
Q: What gives you hope for the future?
A: My kids. And just young people. My kids’ generation they’re so open and they don’t do labels, well I can speak for my kids, they’re just very all embracing of whatever you are and whatever you’re doing. I have hope for them, they “get it.” And they’re on top of the digital revolution, they’re going to take it to the next level.
Q: Anything else you want to share?
A: I’ve always been a glass half full kind of girl, that’s just me. I’m a square peg in a round hole in every aspect of my life, I am.
